With "Reveries Before Silence", TWICE A MAN deliver a lyrical and musical antidote to all the conflicts, rifts, and other ills that plague modern societies in this day and age. This album is an open invitation to join a collective dance that is fuelled by electronic beats and captivating melodies. To revel in electronic sounds and to heal body and soul in the trance of dancing does not mean that the Swedes have finally opted for escapism. On the contrary, TWICE A MAN remain fully aware that this world is burning, the natural world in grave danger, and societies under siege from negative powers that are driven by greed and inflated egos. This combination of environmental awareness and pioneering electronic music and sounds has always been there right from the inception of TWICE A MAN. Vocalist, guitarist, and keyboard player Dan Söderqvist teamed up with synth player Karl Gasleben in 1977. Before settling on TWICE A MAN, the duo formed COSMIC OVERDOSE, which is widely regarded as the first electronic band in Scandinavia. Musically, TWICE A MAN have been lovingly described as "Ultravox on weed – also as melancholic but without the saccharine pathos" or "like a sad Gary Numan, but with a warm, organic touch". There are also gentle echoes of TANGERINE DREAM, KLAUS SCHULZE, and particularly THE HUMAN LEAGUE among many other possible references. Samples from the sound of the natural world and field recordings have been incorporated into the music of TWICE A MAN as early as in the beginning of the 80s. More than 40 years later, TWICE A MAN remain as active and progressive as ever: "Reveries Before Silence" sets a new benchmark for intelligent electronic hits.
