In the old harbour city of Lisbon, an undercurrent of darkness and morbidity hides beneath the sun-drenched gardens, beautifully tiled walls, and bustling streets of Portugal's proud capital. When the last revellers are gone in the early hours of morning just before dawn, something ancient rises from below. It is this gnawing feeling that scratches at the edge of awareness of a sinister presence that haunts the tracks on CRUCIVORE's debut album "Desecration". Although these veterans of the Portuguese death metal scene are firmly building the foundations of their sound on the brutal and powerful principles of their genre, they take the style decisively into the present with their emphasis on cinematic elements and a fine sense of the dramatic and the epic.
